Má + Lin

Introduction to Má + Lin

Má + Lin is where Chinese and French cultures meet to celebrate Linen, the world's most ancient and sustainable fabric. Our brand name is a playful nod to our linen obsession, with "Má(麻)” and “Lin” both meaning linen in Chinese & French, plus a fun wordplay “Malin" meaning clever in French.
We make sustainable linen pieces to flatter women of all ages and body shapes. Crafted in 100% Master of Linen®, every piece is made to last. We aim to create a wardrobe of comfortable and chic clothing so that women don’t ever have to compromise comfort with elegance.

100% traceability

We’ve created a supply chain map to showcase each stage of our garments’ journey. Because every customer has the right to know where her clothes come from. A fully transparent supply chain, that’s what we believe in.

Low environmental impact

Our linen pieces are entirely crafted in Europe, from the flax farm, to the fabric mill and to the garment maker. Because we’d like to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. All made in limited edition, no waste to the ground.

"I never thought of starting my own clothing brand until Covid happened. I’ve always been staying on the “backstage”, working in Fashion buying and production for over 10 years. I used to believe that only the people with design background could launch their own brand… Throughout the years, I’ve become more and more aware of certain rather serious issues in the fashion industry. There is no transparency in the supply chain. We barely know where the fabrics are coming from or under what condition the garments are made, let alone where the raw materials are grown. There is also significant wastage due to the “seasonal fashion”. All “past-season” fabrics and garments would find themselves siting at the warehouse forever, or even worse, end up at the shredding stations! When Covid happened, I suddenly had lots of time to reflect and think what I really wanted for my career. Do I want to continue to contribute to this unsustainable fashion industry which is the second most polluting industry? Or do I want to create something of my own who doesn’t follow the traditional pattern? I wanted to prove that a fashion brand can be different and it doesn’t have to harm the planet. I chose linen, the world’s most sustainable fabric that has long been overlooked in fashion. I have the ambition to make Linen the new Black."
